Press Release: 03/08/18 8:14 PM - E/B 300 Block E. LaSalle Street - No Valid Driver's License

On Thursday 08 March 2018 at approx. 8:14 PM, Somonauk Police responded to the 200 Block of E. LaSalle Street to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers came into contact with 18 year old Troy I. Luckett Jr of the 100 Block of Schoolhouse Road, Yorkville, Illinois who was found to have no valid driver's license. Luckett was placed under arrest and transported to the Sandwich Police Department for processing. Luckett was charged with No Valid Driver's License and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. Lucket was released on a Notice to Appear in LaSalle County on 23 April 2018 at 9:0 AM.






Press Release: 03/08/18 5:04 AM - E/B LaSalle Street E/O Dewey Street - Driving While License Suspended

On Thursday 08 March 2018 at approx. 5:04 AM, Somonauk Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle which was observed being driven by 21 year old Brandy L. Lukacs of the 200 Block of S. Madison Street, Oswego, Illinois who was known to the officer to have a Suspended Illinois Driver's License. Lukacs was taken into custody and transported to the Sandwich Police Department for processing. Lukacs was issed a citation for Driving While Suspended and she was released on a Notice to Appear in LaSalle County on 23 April 2018 at 9:00 AM






Press Release: 03/03/18 1:31 AM - W/B Market Street at Gage Street - DUI Alcohol

On Saturday 03 March 2018 at approx. 1:31 AM, Somonauk Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to signal. Upon further investigation, Police arrested 25 year-old Coleton R. Hulon of the 100 Block of E. LaFayette Street, Somonauk, Illinois for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Hulon was transported to the Sandwich Police Department for processing. Hulon was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol With a BAC Above .08, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol and Failure to Signal. Hulon posted bond and was released from custody. Hulon is due in court in Sycamore on Wednesday 11 April 2018.






Press Release: 02/27/18 7:49 PM - S/B Dewey Street at LaSalle Street - DUI Alcohol

On Tuesday 27 February 2018 at approx 7:49 PM, Somonauk Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was observed stopped at a stop sign and while at the stop sign, the vehicle started to move forward and stopped twice, and then turned its lights off and then on twice. Police also observed once the vehicle began moving that the driver was driving at 25 MPH in a 45 MPH speed zone. After further  investigation, Police arrested Dakota L. Toth, 22 years old of the 100 Block of Cardinal Lane, Sandwich, IL for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Toth was transported to the Sandwich Police Department for processing. Toth was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC Above .08 and Obstructing the Flow of Traffic. Toth posted bond and was released from custody. He is due in court in Sycamore, Illinois on Wednesday 28 March, 2018 at 9:00 AM






Press Release: 02/22/18 1:49 AM - E/B 600 Block E. LaSalle Street - DUI Alcohol

On Thursday 22 February 2018 at approx. 1:49 AM, Somonauk Police stopped a vehicle for speeding 70 MPH in a 45 MPH speed zone. Upon further investigation, police arrested Anthony R. Cline, 31 years old of the 0-100 Block of Peggy Drive, Sandwich, Illinois for driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Cline was transported to the Sandwich Police Department for processing. Cline was issued citations for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Speeding 70 MPH in a 45 MPH speed zone and also for Unauthorized Use of Blue Oscillating, Flashing or Rotating Lights. Cline posted bond and was released from custody. Cline is due in court in LaSalle County on Monday 09 April 2018 at 9:00 AM.






Press Release: 02/016/18 - Somonauk High School, 501 W. LaSalle Street - Threat

On Friday February 16, 2018, Somonauk Police responded to the Somonauk High School for a report of a threat made at school. School Administrators were notified this afternoon by a staff member that a student made a threatening statement. School Administrators detained the student and immediately contacted the Somonauk Police. The Somonauk Police and Detectives from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded and the incident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time. We will update you with further information as it becomes available, preliminary investigation indicates that there was no immediate danger to the students, staff or the public. Because we must take all threats seriously, we responded to this threat immediately and systematically. If anyone ever has any information regarding a threat to the school they are asked to report to School Administration or the Somonauk Police Department.






Press Release: 02/02/18 1:33 AM - Dollar General Store, 100 S. Dewey Street - Traffic Crash

On Friday 02 February 2018 at approx. 11:33 AM, Somonauk Police and Fire responded to the Dollar General Store, 100 S. Dewey Street, for a report of a vehicle vs. building accident. Upon further investigation, police learned that 76 year old Carol Stockl of Sandwich jumped the curb and crashed her 2014 Ford Fiesta into the building. Stockl told police she didn’t think her vehicle was running properly and that upon entering the parking lot of the business and attempting to pull into a parking space, the vehicle accelerated and she was unable to stop before striking the building. Stockl was treated on scene by Somonauk EMS and refused transportation. No citations were issued.






Press Release: 01/31/18 3:50 AM - W/B North Street W/O East Street - Driving While License Suspended

On Wednesday 31 January 2018 at approx 3:50 AM, Somonauk Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding and expired registration. Upon further investigation, it was learned that the driver, identified as 21 year old Brandy L. Lukacs of the 200 Block of S. Madison Street, Oswego, Illinois had a suspended Illinois Driver's License. Lukacs was placed under arrest and transported to the sandwich Police Department for processing. Lukacs was given a written warning for speeding and the expired registration and was issued
a citation for Driving While License Suspended. Lukacs was released on bond and is due in court on 27 February 2018 at 9:00 AM.






Press Release: 01/26/18 1:49 AM - W/B LaSalle Street E/O Dewey Street - Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

On Friday 26 January 2018 at approx. 01:49 AM, a Somonauk Officer stopped a vehicle for driving 67 MPH in a 45MPH speed zone. Upon further investigation, the driver, 21 year old Ronald J. Poore of the 200 Block of S. Maple Street was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. Poore was transported to the Sandwich Police Department for processing. Poore is charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol .08 or Above, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Speeding. Poore posted bond and is due in court at the DeKalb County Courthouse on Wednesday 21 February 2018 at 9:00 AM.
